Check Out THIS Cheque...!Regular readers of our news page and those who work with us here at Complete Pump Supplies will know that Martin Donaldson, our Sales Director, also uses his excellent managerial skills to lead a youth football team. Some time ago, one of the young players tragically passed away due to cancer and, in his name, a tribute fund was quickly founded. Through various fundraising events, Martin has helped to corral many thousands of pounds into the fund and was recently thrilled to present Manchester Children’s Hospital with a huge cheque, literally….

At just ten years old, Zac Barston lost his courageous fight with glioblastoma multiforme, which is an aggressive form of cancer manifesting as a brain tumour. It is surprisingly a little-known fact that such brain tumours are the single biggest type of terminal cancer in children but the Zac Barston Tribute Fund is helping to change that by raising awareness as well as much needed cash.

Zac was given treatment at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which also houses a Brain Tumour Research Network. It is this research department to which monies raised from Zac’s tribute fund are given, helping to provide essential staff, products and infrastructure in the fight against brain tumours in children. As medical technology advances and we move ever closer to a cure for cancer, money for research is now more important than ever before and we are extremely proud of Martin, his team and everyone else who is part of this growing network of supporters.

Royal manchester childrensMoney has come in from many routes, including a special charity night event last year. Many prizes for a big raffle were donated and gratefully received and everyone enjoyed some good food and drink along with conversation and a little dancing too.

The latest cheque to land in the Royal Manchester Children’s overworked bank account was for a whopping £18,000, money to be directly ploughed into research that will one day prevent the deaths of young people like Zac Barston, such a tragic loss to our community.
