General Information

This information is to assist in the installation of the cold water booster set, please make sure to follow them carefully, if you are unsure about any aspect of the installation feel free to call our office on 0808 168 6767. Do not lift the booster by the pipe work or by the control panel. The Anti Cycle Vessels are supplied loose for transport purposes, please ensure that the booster set has been put in to place and connected to the suction and discharge pipe work before installing the Anti Cycle Vessels, on no account should the Anti Cycle Vessels be used to “manouvre” the booster set in to place.

Siting/Installing the Booster Set

  • The Booster Set must be installed within an area where in the event of any component or pipework failure the resultant water leak won't cause any damage to surrounding property, if the Booster Set is to be installed or stored prior to installation in an unheated room then adequate frost protection must be added, the maximum ambient temperature should not exceed 35oc.
  • The Booster Set must be installed on a level surface and if the plant room has a chance of flooding it is recommended that the Booster Set is elevated and installed on a suitable plinth.
  • If the optional anti vibration mounts have been purchased then fix these to the floor/plinth then fix the booster set to the a.v mounts.
  • Care must be taken to ensure the booster set has a flooded suction from the cold water storage tank unless specific self priming pumps have been specified.
  • A full bore isolating valve must be installed on the discharge to enable commissioning and maintenance to be carried out correctly.
  • The pumps are suitable for a water temperature between 0oC and 35oC and a maximum pressure of 8.0 bar
  • Before switching on the booster set please ensure the pumps have been adequately primed.
  • An Anti Cycle Vessel (or several, depending on the model) will be supplied to eliminate hunting of the pumps; additional units can be installed next to the Booster Set if required. An Anti Cycle Vessel MUST always be fitted on the discharge manifold, do not attempt to operate the Booster Set without first installing the anti cycle vessel/s as serious damage to the Booster Set can occur.
  • The vessel air charge should be maintained at 0.3 bar below the systems nominal operating pressure.e.g.
  • Nominal System Pressure = 3.0 bar
  • Anti Cycle Vessel Air Pressure = 2.7 bar
